Frequently Asked Questions

How do we begin working with an Architect?

Our beginning point would be to meet, visit the property or existing house, and discussing your ideas for the project.

What type and size of projects do you typically work on?

I enjoy working on a wide variety of projects; renovations, additions, planning, and new construction. The scale of the projects varies from single room renovations to large custom homes and everything in between. I approach each and every project, regardless of size, with the same amount of professional attention.

How much do your services cost?

I charge an hourly fee for all my work, which allows each project to be tailored to suit the client’s needs and budget. The construction documents will always include complete architectural and structural information. Some clients have me go much further with selections of materials and colors, lighting plans, cabinetry details, etc.

Is your job complete when the drawings are ready for the builder to submit for a building permit?

During the construction phase, I perform site visits, take photos of the project, write job site reports, answer questions, and help with decision making. How much time I spend during this phase depends on the complexity of the project.

Why do you work with a Structural Engineer?

Working with a structural Engineer during the design and working drawing phases, allows me to design in tandem with the structural requirements. Because of the high wind speed zones and varying site slopes that occur in this area, I find it cost effective to always work with a structural Engineer.
